Abstract

We have recently witnessed a growing international interest in the dissemination and promotion of gastronomy and its products, both by public and private institutions. In this context, the work "Gastronomic heritage and cultural tourism in the Mediterranean" is framed by Jordi Tresserras and F. Xavier Medina.

This publication aims to serve as a tool for reflection in the current debate on the rise of gastronomy in cultural tourism, in particular in the Mediterranean area. Thus, the book collects a large part of the contributions made by renowned specialists at the International Symposium on Gastronomic Heritage and Cultural Tourism in the Mediterranean, organized jointly by the same Institute European Institute for the Mediterranean (Iemed) and University of Barcelona, with the collaboration of the Fundació Viure el Mediterrani, in 2005.
