O 11 de Setembro e a teoria da percepção do risco

Resumo

O turismo como atividade e como instituição social encontra-se associado a um sem número de variáveis e a problemas que podem afetar seu desenvolvimento. Embora os atentados terroristas tenham estado presentes como forma política de reivindicação tomando como reféns turistas estrangeiros, A bibliografia especializada não hesita em assinalar o ataque de 11 de Setembro de 2001 em Nova Iorque como ponto de ruptura no que diz respeito à percepção do risco aplicado às viagens. A aceitação que hoje desfruta esta teoria, no mundo anglo-saxão, nos leva a uma abordagem de tipo crítico que tentará enfatizar os pontos fortes e fracos que levanta. O futuro da teoria da percepção do risco aplicada a destinos turísticos mantém um campo de pesquisa inovador em língua espanhola. Num momento de mudança de milénio que se caracteriza por uma proliferação de sentimentos de angústia e de riscos (Beck, 2006) (Luhmann, 2006), é de capital importância continuar as abordagens empíricas na matéria. Neste contexto, o presente ensaio tentou, por um lado, sintetizar os estudos principais na mate- ria, proporcionando um matiz crítico nos aspectos que ainda não foram correctamente definidos.
