impactsAbstract
The present review of Tourism at the beginning of the Millennium: a critical reading by three voices, aims to give an account of the compendium of articles written by Jordi Gascón, Ernest Cañada and Joan Buades on the various aspects to be taken into account in the analysis of tourism as a motor for development, especially in the southern area of the world. It highlights the ideological, ecological, economic, political and social conditioning factors involved in the tourism industry in a context of neoliberal capitalism, offering alternatives from points of view that are more in line with the realities and capacities of local populations in favour of fair and equitable development. It was published in 2012 by the Responsible Tourism Forum.
