Pensar este mundo contemporâneo convida a discutir o papel das mobilidades e do turismo na geografia global. Ao fazê-lo, como diz Korstanje, os contornos entre o centro e a periferia não só se desfocam, como também acendem conflitos, incertezas e violência. Esta é a razão pela qual a hospitalidade desempenha um papel crucial na revitalização dos laços sociais, alguns deles enfraquecidos pelos encontros turísticos (Korstanje & Skoll, 2014; Korstanje & Olsen 2011; Korstanje, 2015). O presente livro, editado y Marcia Capellano Dos Santos & Isabel Baptista, contém 15 excelentes capítulos divididos em dois lados. A primeira parte é baseada em uma coleção de manuscritos de autores brasileiros, enquanto a segunda oferece o ponto de vista de escritores portugueses.
