In view of the continued aging of the world population, seniors have become a new and potentially profitable market opportunity for the tourism sector. New generations of retired seniors with lifestyles oriented towards leisure and entertainment, greater purchasing power and better health than previous generations of seniors will boost the overall volume of tourism. This paper aims to find out whether the life cycle stage and socio-cultural level of Spanish seniors determines their travel constraints. Using ANCOVA, we found that specific variables linked to this group’s life cycle stage and socio-cultural levels determine their main travel constraints: health, economic status and self-perceived time available.
