Resumo

Tendo em conta o contínuo envelhecimento da população mundial, os idosos tornaram-se uma nova e potencialmente lucrativa oportunidade de mercado para o sector do turismo. Novas gerações de idosos aposentados com estilos de vida orientados para o lazer e entretenimento, maior poder aquisitivo e melhor saúde do que as gerações anteriores de idosos impulsionarão o volume global do turismo. Este documento pretende descobrir se a fase do ciclo de vida e o nível sócio-cultural dos idosos espanhóis determina as suas restrições de viagem. Usando ANCOVA, descobrimos que variáveis específicas ligadas ao estágio do ciclo de vida e níveis sócio-culturais deste grupo determinam suas principais restrições de viagem: saúde, status econômico e tempo de auto-percepção disponível.
