Abstract

Nowadays, a tourist region is assured in premises that meet the new global context, such as: the economic issue, which in turn requires an articulation in favor of corporate interests, social and environmental factors that in a specialized and contiguative way allow to meet the desires of contemporary regional development. The objective of this study is based on the validation of the model proposed by Chow and Chen (2011) for the analysis of the perception regarding sustainable regional development in a tourist region. For this purpose, a quantitative survey of 465 people from the municipalities of Gramado, Canela and Nova Petrópolis/ Rio Grande do Sul/ Brazil was conducted. For validation, the calculation of Cronbach's alpha was first performed, followed by an exploratory factorial analysis. A posteriori, Pearson's correlation coefficient and structural equations modeling were used. As a result, it was obtained that the model is adequate for the measurement of sustainable regional development.
