Abstract

It was Thomas and Julian Huxley (1947) who defined evolution as an increase in complexity; that is, greater control, independence and self-realization; and at the same time, more harmonization in organizations, due to increased knowledge and experience. However, evolution does not imply progress, because evolution is a process of fact and progress is a judgment of value (Kahler, cf. Ash-Law, 1968: 9).
