Valor social como factor estratégico na gestão do património e do turismo: o caso do Sítio Cueva de Altamira Património Mundial (Espanha) Turismo y museos: una reflexión empírica sobre la Región Autónoma de Madeira

Resumo

A dimensão social do valor tornou-se uma pedra angular do debate sobre a conservação, gestão e sustentabilidade do turismo em relação ao património cultural. Este artigo examina o papel do valor social na gestão do património e na promoção do turismo através do caso da Caverna de Altamira como Património Mundial da UNESCO, analisando as perspectivas dos não-peritos na gestão do património. Para tal, foram realizados dois inquéritos, um dirigido aos visitantes (1047 questionários válidos), e outro à população espanhola como comunidade de acolhimento (1000 questionários válidos). Os resultados mostram como estes agentes interpretam a existência, o valor estético, económico e legado de formas que divergem das dos peritos, aprofundando a complexa relação entre promoção e preservação do património, e alargando o debate sobre como o valor social pode contribuir para reforçar a imagem internacional e nacional dos destinos do património no futuro incerto do mercado global do turismo.
