Sustainable economy, cultural community and the islands

Nel presente intervento affronterò alcuni temi relativi al rapporto fra turismo sostenibile e processi di cambiamento culturale. Inizierò con l’analisi della nozione di “turismo sostenibile”, cercando di dimostrare che la sua comprensione è più piena se si assume uno sguardo antropologico. Mi soffer- merò poi sul rapporto fra cultura, agenti sociali e turismo, e concluderò con qualche notazione relativa al problema della “insularità”. L’assunto principale è che, non dandosi a priori relazioni univoche tra tu- rismo e società, sia da rivolgere particolare attenzione alla natura olistica del turismo quale fenomeno culturale e alla sua peculiare “evoluzione”. Da ciò discende la prospettiva che la “insularità” sia destinata a porre i problemi tipici che incontra chi esercita uno sguardo etnologico sulle culture altre.
