Without a doubt, in recent years the epistemology of tourism has entered an unprecedented crisis. In addition to the problems inherent to the discipline and its curricular training (Leiper, 1981), there is a dispersion in the production of knowledge (Tribe, 1997; 2010), associated with the lack of clarity in defining the object of study (Thirkettle & Korstanje 2013; Korstanje, Mustellier & Herrera, 2016), the passivity of an academy that dialogues -in most cases- behind its academics (Dann 2009; Tribe 2010), and the need for new horizons or research topics that have led to a predictable saturation of results. The obligatory theme in the years to come will be the re-founding of the epistemological bases of tourism studies (Chambers & Rakic, 2015).
