Estado das relações do Parque Nacional Monumento Arqueologico Guayabo com as comunidades de Santa Cruz de Turrialba e Guayabo, Costa Rica

Resumo

O objetivo deste estudo foi analisar o estado das relações entre o Parque Na- cional Monumento Arqueológico Guayabo e as comunidades vizinhas, de Santa Cruz e Guayabo. Em Santa Cruz foram aplicadas 117 pesquisas e em Guayabo 117 em 2005. As conclusões do estudo foram: 1) o estado das relações entre o PNMNG e as comunidades de Santa Cruz e Guayabo é fraco, mas não de confronto, 2) a escassa participação e os escassos benefícios económicos recebidos, parecem ser os elementos chave que estão afetando o estado das relações entre o parque e as comunidades, 3) é urgente que a gerência do parque utilize os mecanismos comunais para dar a conhecer que faz o parque, educar e fazer com que os vizinhos participem das atividades deste e 4) a administração do parque deveria assinalar às autoridades do governo central a necessidade de envolver a comunidade, nos assuntos de parques, para garantir a sustentabilidade sócio-económica e ecológica a longo prazo.
