Recuperação de destinos turísticos após um desastre: uma Avaliação de Pontos de Resiliência Turística para Destinos (SRTD)

Em 2015 foi realizado um estudo de resiliência na cidade de Manta usando o Tourist Resilience Scorecard for Destination (SRTD) como ferramenta. Os resultados deste estudo mostraram fraquezas significativas na capacidade de resposta do Departamento de Turismo do cantão diante de cenários de crise que poderiam afetar o destino. Da mesma forma, foram detectadas deficiências na carteira de estratégias de recuperação e adaptação para prováveis cenários de crise. Tendo em vista os problemas encontrados, os pesquisadores apresentaram propostas de melhorias, que não puderam ser implementadas pelo Governo Autônomo Descentralizado (GAD) de Manta devido à falta de orçamento para medidas de prevenção de riscos. Em abril de 2016, exatamente um ano após o estudo, um terremoto de 7,8 graus na escala Richter sacudiu a cidade de Manta, demonstrando as deficiências encontradas pela SRTD.
