Realização dos ODM através do turismo na sub-região da África Central: Implicações para o desenvolvimento económico local nos Camarões

Resumo

Este artigo analisa o papel e a contribuição do turismo para o desenvolvimento económico local e para a consecução dos Objectivos de Desenvolvimento do Milénio 1 e 7, que visam a redução da pobreza extrema e a sustentabilidade ambiental a biodiversidade dotou a sub-região da África Central. São examinados os conceitos de desenvolvimento turístico sustentável e de desenvolvimento económico local (na África subsariana). Através de observações de campo e entrevistas semi-estruturadas com 21 partes interessadas da indústria do turismo em Camarões, uma análise do papel do turismo e futuro em LED e na realização dos Objectivos de Desenvolvimento do Milénio 1 & 7 é realizada. Os principais desafios que actualmente inibem o desenvolvimento do turismo, limitando assim a sua contribuição para o desenvolvimento económico local e a realização destes objectivos nos Camarões são identificados e um quadro no âmbito do qual a contribuição do turismo pode ser é proposto um aumento do número.
