Atrito do espaço e das externalidades territoriais da mobilidade turística terrestre na América Central a partir da rota Ticabus.

O turismo tornou-se uma das forças motrizes do processo de integração contemporânea na América Central e, como resultado, foi desenvolvida a rota de transporte terrestre Ticabus (TRT). Esta rota liga Tapachula, México à Cidade do Panamá pela Rodovia Pan-Americana e atravessa seis dos sete países da América Central em 2526 km. Com exceção de dois locais (Tapachula, México e San Pedro Sula, Honduras), os pontos de origem e destino são capitais nacionais da América Central. Apesar da pequena dimensão dos países, da presença da infra-estrutura viária e das ligações directas entre as capitais nacionais, há uma série de externalidades territoriais, resultantes das condições políticas, económicas e sociais, que não só maximizam a fricção do espaço como também demonstram a dificuldade das dinâmicas territoriais no interior do istmo.
