Turismo regenerativo y postdesarrollo: ¿ruptura paradigmática o rebranding de la sostenibilidad?

Resumen

Este ensayo examina críticamente el turismo regenerativo con el fin de determinar si constituye una ruptura paradigmática frente al desarrollo sostenible o si representa un rebranding funcional al capitalismo verde. Se parte de la importancia de cuestionar los modelos de desarrollo turístico hegemónicos en América Latina. El objetivo es analizar los fundamentos biocéntricos y decoloniales del turismo regenerativo desde las perspectivas del postdesarrollo y el decrecimiento, problematizando sus tensiones sociopolíticas. La metodología consistió en una revisión teórica crítica de literatura académica global y latinoamericana. Entre los resultados relevantes se identificaron las potencialidades del turismo regenerativo para promover la justicia ecosocial, la revitalización cultural y la restauración territorial, así como los riesgos de cooptación neoliberal, greenwashing y reproducción de lógicas extractivistas. La discusión reflexiona sobre la necesidad de reconfigurar epistemologías y relaciones de poder para avanzar hacia transiciones justas y pluriversales. Se concluye que el turismo regenerativo requiere un replanteamiento profundo del modelo de desarrollo para constituirse como alternativa real en el contexto latinoamericano.
