Abstract

Tourism marketing is still an area that faces difficulties in establishing solid theoretical bases, given the complexity of tourism amalgam. The tourist attractions and elements related to the infrastructure of services and products of a tourist location are mentioned by literature as important for attracting visitors. However, what are the elements perceived by actors of a tourist destination about the attractiveness of the site? To answer this question, a qualitative approach was used through in-depth interviews with local tourism trade actors from Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The study showed that the perception of attractiveness of the actors interviewed covers the historical-cultural attractions and problems experienced in the destination in the foreground, but also potential attractions and competition from competing destinations.
