Airbnb, Collaborative economy, Digital platformsAbstract
The review seeks to analyze a book that delves into the phenomenon of certain platforms such as Airbnb, which are sold as part of a sustainable, supportive and friendly alternative to the populations in which they are inserted, but which in reality have much more complex dynamics. The work is based on a premise: the modern world is in a growing economic and environmental crisis that has led us to the need to restructure the models of production, accumulation and consumption. The result of the research is a state of the art on collaborative economy and digital platforms for educational purposes for students of different disciplines. One of the great contributions of this work is to put certain homesharing platforms such as Airbnb, whose apologetic discourses show it as a supportive and community alternative, under an analytical magnifying glass of the collaborative economy; starting by explaining what this model implies and what elements constitute it.
