Abstract

Following the outlined editorial plan, the volume 20 of the journal ends with a special issue dedicated to the theme: Hospitality, Sustainable Tourism and Local Development. Just as tourism, as a mass phenomenon, has a relatively recent expression, the confluence between tourism and hospitality today constitutes a new field of study, both intense and open to epistemological debate. This is an ongoing, structuring and forward-looking discussion on research on the subject.

Eduardo Cândido Cordeiro Gonçalves, University of Maia (Portugal)

PhD in Tourism from Universitat Rovira i Virgili (Spain); and PhD in History from the University of Porto (Portugal); Associate Professor at the University of Maia (Portugal); effective researcher at CEGOT - Center for Studies in Geography and Spatial Planning (R&D Unit nº 4048 of the Foundation for Science and Technology - Portugal), GR 1- Tourism. Currently director of the Center for Tourism Development Studies at the University of Maia (Portugal) of which he was Vice-Rector (2014-2021).
