Abstract

The web has promoted changes in the behavior of tourists around the world and online assessments, although they are a significant source of data, are still only beginning to be used. This study aims at analysing the experiences and perceptions of tourists and visitors to the ruins of the Jesuit Mission of São Miguel das Missões (RS), through their comments on TripAdvisor, and to calculate the correlation presented in these feedbacks with the general evaluation (Rating) of the attraction over eight dimensions (hospitality, conservation, security, infrastructure, accessibility, economic aspects, entertainment and sustainability). The quantitative research with data collection used the mining software WebHeavy to map 821 comments and 1169 perceptions. Microsoft Excel and Linear Regression Analysis were used to create categorisation through SPSS. The results confirm that the dimensions of accessibility, sustainability, conservation, and entertainment bear an influence the overall assessment and may stimulate new management and promotion strategies for safeguarding heritage tourism.
