Abstract

In the book by the author Antonio Francés (2003) called Tourism: competitiveness and strategy, the competitivity of tourism between three destinations located in the Caribbean is analyzed, that is: Dominican Republic, Cuba and Venezuela, applying the Balanced Scorecard model, Kaplan and Norton, (1996) using the following factors: tourist attractions, visitor experience and satisfaction, hotel room offer factor, average tourist package price for the European market and a deterrent factor that has to do with problems in the social environment or context. Each factor presents a data rescued from a source and that data is then normalized, that is to say they are carried to proportions or percentages when comparing the data for a destination with the data of a destination considered the best in terms of scores.
