This publication is the fourth in a line which has already been consolidated and which is based on the congresses on cultural heritage and museums organised by the University of the Basque Country/Euskal Herriko Uni- bertsitatea under the coordination of the anthropologist Iñaki Arrieta Urtizberea. This volume contains 15 works presented in the IV edition of the congress held in autumn 2008. Broadly speaking, these articles describe and analyse processes of heritage activation; that is, the interests and the valorisations that have led to the heritage or the valorisation of cultural assets, who has intervened in this process, why, for what purpose and how these activations have been carried out.
