On 3, 4 and 5 November 2010, the First Congress of Rural Tourism took place in the Villa de Santa Brígi- da, organized jointly by the Town Council of Santa Brígi- da and the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC)and in which the Council of Economy and Finance of the Canary Islands Government, the Social Work of La Caixa and the Tourist Board of Gran Cana have collaborated. The event brought together a large number of attendees, including industry professionals, researchers and experts in the field, students and, including, diplomatic representatives from other countries, demonstrating the great interest that rural tourism currently attracts
