What is Cultural Tourism and how is it measured? A longitudinal study with time series for the Spanish case

El turismo cultural se ha convertido en un reto para muchos destinos porque es menos sensible a la estacionalidad y a las corrientes de la moda turística. Es una forma de revitalizar las zonas interiores, preservar los sitios patrimoniales y aumentar las tasas de empleo. Sin embargo, conceptualizar y medir el turismo cultural no es una tarea fácil. En este trabajo, primero ofrecemos un marco conceptual de lo que es el turismo cultural, como interfaz entre la experiencia y la autenticidad: a continuación, presentamos una revisión de los tipos de turismo cultural y de los turistas culturales. En segundo lugar, tras presentar lo difícil que puede ser la medición del turismo cultural, presentamos nuestro enfoque empírico: un estudio longitudinal sobre datos secundarios de varias dimensiones culturales proporcionados por fuentes públicas españolas. Los resultados obtenidos mediante regresiones lineales pretenden aclarar el impacto del turismo cultural en el gasto turístico.
