Adventure tourism has become one of the strands of tourism most in demand the world over, and yet the inadequate preparation and performance of some of these activities has caused accidents , some of which have been fatal.. Therefore, this research identifies the factors of risk in adventure tourism activities in Colombia, through qualitativeand descriptive methods. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with key players in the sector. It was found that the departments of Santander, Magdalena, Valle and Antioquia are the main territories where accidents occur in this variant of tourism, with the highest accident rate occurring in paragliding, horseback riding and trekking. Despite the fact that there are extensive regulations in the adventure segment, mandatory as of 2015, shortcomings continue to abound, putting the integrity of the user at risk.
