Qualidade do emprego no sector do turismo

Resumo

Em muitos territórios, a atividade turística é vista como um meio de aumentar o rendimento e o emprego da população. A investigação também apoia esta ideia. No entanto, os estudos têm negligenciado a qualidade do emprego, que é motivo de preocupação para os decisores políticos e é vista como um fator determinante do bem-estar individual. A qualidade do emprego no sector do turismo é geralmente considerada baixa. Contudo, a maioria dos dados sobre a qualidade do emprego não tem em conta a qualidade do emprego em actividades turísticas específicas, em actividades não turísticas, nas diferentes profissões turísticas e em profissões não turísticas. No presente estudo, estes aspectos são analisados com base em dados sobre o emprego na UE e em duas grandes bases de dados sobre as caraterísticas do emprego (ONET) e as condições de trabalho (Inquérito Europeu sobre as Condições de Trabalho). Os resultados indicam que a qualidade do emprego é baixa nas actividades de alojamento e de serviços de alimentação e bebidas, mas não nos serviços de agências de viagens e de operadores turísticos. Em termos de profissões, a qualidade do emprego é baixa na maioria das profissões do sector do turismo.
