Conceitos baseados na localização na investigação turística: o que é que significam?

Resumo

Este documento é motivado pela falta de clareza nos termos e definições frequentemente utilizados na investigação turística, complicando os estudos comparativos de casos. Este documento propõe um método objectivo que pode ajudar os investigadores a tomar consciência de diferentes definições de conceitos na investigação em turismo, evitando mal-entendidos. O documento centra-se em quatro conceitos principais: destino, atracção, alojamento e ponto de interesse. É realizada uma análise bibliométrica para quantificar a frequência com que os investigadores empregam definições diferentes para cada um destes termos. Isto permitiu que a definição mais frequentemente utilizada fosse determinada. Os resultados mostram que a bibliometria pode ajudar a identificar as definições mais frequentes dadas a um determinado conceito. Este estudo pode ajudar futuros investigadores a melhor definir conceitos em estudos de turismo, uma vez que pode ser utilizado para clarificar os significados entre investigadores e profissionais ao conduzir investigação ou ao fazer relatórios sobre turismo e hospitalidade.
