Modelos mentais e a governação da inovação nos destinos turísticos: provas comparativas do Equador e do Azerbaijão.

Resumo

Os destinos nos países em desenvolvimento (CD) mostram frequentemente fraquezas na criação de novos conhecimentos inovadores para libertar o potencial do turismo como meio de desenvolvimento regional sustentável. A investigação turística geralmente localiza um factor inibidor na natureza da mentalidade dos intervenientes do turismo, mas as provas empíricas são escassas. No caso de dois destinos regionais no Azerbaijão e no Equador, este estudo comparativo apresenta uma nova abordagem qualitativa baseada na técnica de modelação semântica GABEK para extrair formas latentes e manifestas de modelos mentais colectivos, bem como as "pegadas" culturais deixadas pelo seu processo de formação. Como resultado principal, identifica áreas de intervenção para "engenharia cultural" que podem servir como ponto de partida para uma governação mais sistémica da inovação nos destinos das PD.
