Esporte e Turismo: uma relação potencialmente conflituosa. O caso de Marinas em Tenerife

Resumo

Este artigo destaca os conflitos que podem surgir no campo do Desporto e Turismo através de um estudo de caso de duas marinas na ilha de Tenerife (Espanha). Seguindo uma abordagem qualitativa, foram analisados os dis- cursos dos participantes de sete desportos aquáticos diferentes. Apesar da abordagem opti- mística tradicional em relação à relação entre o desporto e o turismo, os resultados da investigação mostraram que os golpes podem surgir se não for cuidadosamente gerido. Os conflitos foram encontrados em três níveis. Primeiramente, em um nível do prac- tice do esporte, onde o conflito pode levantar-se entre os esportes diferentes prendidos dentro e em torno das marinas. Em segundo lugar, a nível socioeconómico, podem surgir conflitos entre os diferentes grupos sociais que utilizam marinas. Em terceiro lugar, a nível do turismo, pode surgir um conflito entre o desenvolvimento do turismo e a utilização de marinas como um ve- nue desportivo. O documento conclui salientando questões fundamentais a ter em conta na gestão da relação entre o turismo e o desporto, como a imagem de marca dos desportos, por um lado, e dos destinos turísticos, por outro, e os grupos sociais que geralmente jogam cada esporte e visitam cada destino.
