From Identification to Action: Inventory and Prioritisation of Tourism Resources as Keys to Tourism Planning and Management

This article develops a methodological model for the inventorying and prioritisation of tourism resources, conceived as a strategic tool for destination planning and management. The Eume region (Galicia, Spain) is adopted as a case study within the framework of its Destination Tourism Sustainability Plan, enabling a rigorous empirical approach to a territory characterised by a high density of heritage assets and a complex socio-ecological configuration. The study details the different phases of the process — from the collection and systematisation of information to evaluation, verification, and technical validation — and proposes a classification of resources grounded in the OAS typology (1994), revised and expanded using contemporary criteria to align it with current conceptual and operational approaches. The resulting model provides an instrument for identifying priority, strategic, and complementary resources, offering a registration, analytical, and operational tool of considerable value for tourism destinations.
