Impact, Quality of Life, and Support for Tourism Development: An Analysis in Ensenada, Baja California
DOI:

Tourism impact, quality of life, tourism support, sustainable development, hierarchical component modelAbstract
This study investigates whether different tourism impacts affect the perceived quality of life and support for tourism development in Ensenada, Baja California. A quantitative methodology with structural modelling was used to analyse the data from 332 residents. The results reveal that the impact of tourism significantly affects both the quality of life and support for tourism. The research shows that, although the quality of life has a moderately positive impact on support for tourism development, the cultural and political impacts of tourism are the most influential. This work is innovative in that it addresses the lack of studies on the impact of tourism in developing countries such as Mexico. The research highlights the need for sustainable public policies that balance the economic benefits of tourism with improving the quality of life of residents.
