Cultural heritage and tourism development in Cambodia: the case of Angkor

The small country of Cambodia, with an area of 181,035 km2, located in South-East Asia, has 10,716,000 inhabitants. Its capital is Phnom Penh and the whole country enjoys a very humid subtropical climate. This state, after suffering long years of civil wars and foreign occupation, is rebuilding its cultural heritage, which had been set aside, with the help of France (ex-metropolis) and Japan, both coordinated by UNESCO.
