Resumo

O astroturismo é uma atividade dos viajantes que desejam usar o recurso natural de paisagens noturnas bem conservadas para o lazer e o conhecimento astronomy-relacionados. Esta prática tem aumentado em popularidade durante os últimos anos, agregando valor aos destinos turísticos offbeat oferecendo céu noturno de alta qualidade e herança astronômica ou archaeoastronomical. As iniciativas de astroturismo contribuem para a difusão do conhecimento e da formação de capital humano, tanto entre os visitantes como na comunidade anfitriã. Por conseguinte, pode actuar como um potencial instrumento de desenvolvimento. Os melhores destinos para o astroturismo têm características muito especiais, o que torna provável um posicionamento estratégico favorável em mercados nacionais e até mesmo internacionais. No entanto, os consumidores de astroturismo exigem um elevado conteúdo de conhecimento e uma excelente qualidade nas suas visitas. Tal exige uma abordagem profissional da utilização e conservação dos recursos, do desenvolvimento de produtos e da prestação adequada de serviços auxiliares no destino. Uma política e uma governação turísticas sofisticadas são indispensáveis para o lançamento e o funcionamento bem sucedidos do astroturismo.
