O repensar e a valorização do património natural e cultural das paisagens culturais: o caso das salinas Secovlje e Janubio

Resumo

As paisagens culturais representam uma categoria complexa onde a dicotomia natureza-cultura parece não ser capaz de desdobrar as principais características e as relações profundas que os seres humanos têm com o meio ambiente. Baseado em dados etnográficos recolhidos nas salinas de Secovlje (Slovene Istria) e Janubio (Lanzarote-Ilhas Canárias), este artigo examina as percepções dos informantes sobre a consciência da importância e a valorização dos valores holísticos de ambas as salinas, bem como os impactos e benefícios do turismo. Comparando estas percepções sobre ambas as paisagens culturais, tento sugerir que as complexas relações frutíferas entre os seres humanos e a natureza nestas salinas estão em desacordo com a lógica neoliberal da natureza que explora e mercantiliza os seus recursos, privando-os da sua respectiva agência. Uma sustentabilidade para contrastar as actividades nocivas do mercado deve ser entendida não como um simples isolamento e vedação da natureza em nome da conservação, mas como uma preservação que precisa de promover a continuidade das interacções profundas entre a cultura humana e a natureza não humana, que são o núcleo das paisagens culturais.
