Metadata release protocol

PROTOCOL FOR THE TRANSFER OF METADATA TO OPEN ACCESS REPOSITORIES AND CONTENT AGGREGATORS

This document establishes the protocol for the transfer of PASOS Journal of Tourism and Cultural Heritage (ISSN 1695-7121) metadata to open access repositories and content aggregators in order to improve the visibility, accessibility and preservation of academic content.

Objective. To facilitate interoperability and open access to articles published in the journal through the systematic and standardised transfer of metadata to knowledge aggregation and preservation platforms.

Metadata Included. The metadata provided will comply with international standards and will comprise at least the following elements:

- Article title

- Authors and affiliations

- Abstract

- Keywords

- Date of publication

- DOI

- Persistent identifiers (ORCID)

- Link to full text

- Licence of publication

- Language

- Category or discipline (if applicable)

- Funding information (if applicable)

Format and Interoperability Standards. Metadata will be structured in formats compatible with OAI-PMH (Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) repositories and content aggregators.

Handover Mechanism. Metadata Handover will be done by automatic integration through OAI-PMH harvesting protocols.

Requirements for Repositories and Aggregators. Repositories and aggregators wishing to receive metadata shall:

- Ensure open access to metadata without restrictions.

- Comply with standards for preservation and dissemination of scholarly content.

- Ensure acknowledgement of the original source through proper citation.

Licences and Rights of Use. The metadata will be shared under an open licence, such as CC0 1.0 Universal (Public Domain Dedication), allowing free reuse, as long as the corresponding credits are respected.
