El turismo religioso se ha planteado como uno de los principales atractivos de la industria turística a nivel mundial, sin embargo, ahora falta un debate serio respecto a que cualquier peregrinación pueda enmarcarse dentro del turismo. Este libro, editado por Katic, Klarin y McDonald, es el resultado del evento Peregrinación y Lugares Sagrados en Europa Central y del Este, lugar, política y turismo religioso. Aunque la peregrinación se define como un acto de fe, devoción y penitencia, que conduce a la redención, en la era de las movilidades los estudiosos, señalan al "turismo religioso" como un período de transición en el que la religión se convierte en los principales aspectos de atracción.
