Impacts associated with tourism in the community of José María Morelos, Jalisco, México

In the community, nature tourism was the trigger for the activity; however, public policies since the beginning of the 21st century have focused on promoting tourism megadevelopments that have caused various impacts, so the changes perceived by the inhabitants were analyzed as a result of the new projects, in 2009 with respect to 2019, considering social problems, tourism activity and impacts on the community. A survey was applied with the cluster sampling method that was analyzed with the Régnier Abacus method and descriptive statistics. In 2009 the two most urgent social problems were: drinking water and medical services, and the one with the greatest mobility was the social organization. The most perceived positive impact associated with tourism was employment and the negative impact was of pollution. In 2019 the trend was preserved, confirming that employment is perceived as the most positive tourist impact for the community.
