Initially considered a private matter, involving priviledged sectors, from the end of World War II tourism begun to be considered a public issue and an object of public policies. The National Parks Direction, created in late 1934, was the first attempt of sistematic nacional touristic policy in Argentina: it envolved the development of a sort of “technic” view of tourism and a very active policy of organization and managment of tourism , not confined only to propaganda or the collection of tou- ristic information. Early Peronist touristic policy was based on this experience, eventough encouraged and reoriented by the imperative of welfare democratization.
