Sustainable Intentions in Tourism: An Empirical Analysis of European Residents

Utilizando 22.503 observaciones del Flash Eurobarómetro de la UE, este análisis emplea un modelo logit para estimar la probabilidad de que un encuestado declare intenciones sostenibles en la elección del destino según sus características individuales. Con el fin de mejorar la precisión analítica, se identifican tres grupos de turistas según su nivel de sostenibilidad: principalmente sostenibles, secundariamente sostenibles y no sostenibles. Esta clasificación constituye una contribución original al ofrecer una visión detallada de las intenciones turísticas sostenibles y sus determinantes, destacando la heterogeneidad entre grupos y aspectos omitidos en los análisis agregados. Posteriormente, se aplica un modelo logit multinomial para predecir la pertenencia de un individuo a una categoría de sostenibilidad determinada, utilizando variables sociodemográficas, culturales y contextuales. Los resultados indican que las intenciones sostenibles están asociadas a dichas características. Los turistas de Europa Occidental, las mujeres y los grupos de mayor edad son más propensos a considerar los problemas medioambientales, mientras que los viajeros frecuentes lo son en menor medida.
