Resumo

O turismo marinho molda as experiências de turismo nos ecossistemas costeiros e marinhos. Nos últimos anos, a sua consolidação e crescimento exponencial é um poderoso mecanismo para reestruturar os destinos costeiros. Ao mesmo tempo, desencadeia um conjunto de impactos sócio-económicos, socioculturais e ambientais. Neste contexto, a actividade tem recebido a atenção académica de diferentes disciplinas e abordagens, tentando desvendar as diferentes complexidades do modelo, tal como é dado em todo o mundo. Neste sentido, são necessárias ferramentas metodológicas para produzir conhecimentos sólidos que encorajem uma análise abrangente do turismo marinho, com base nos produtos e recursos disponíveis como plataforma para diferentes utilizações. Este artigo, baseado num diagnóstico do turismo marinho nas Ilhas Canárias (Espanha) sugere uma classificação dos produtos e recursos do turismo marinho, para clarificar os elementos que constituem a actividade. Além disso, fornece um quadro analítico e operacional para futuros investigadores que pretendam explorar os processos em torno desta realidade.
