Abstract

this study examines the needs for developing skills of trainees in courses offered by institu- tions of Tourism of the Distrito Federal. It was used a research tool developed from the knowledge, skills and attitudes of the Tourism professional defined by the Ministry of Education and Culture. A hundred and sixty five students of Tourism in nine institutions participated in the study. Descriptive statistics were performed to analyze the data. The results show that students sampled demonstrated mastery of basic skills required of professionals in Tourism, but not those actually associated with the exercise of the profession in question. Bases are provided to rethink the skills of Brazilian professionals of Tourism and for future studies.
