Authentic heritage, authentic tourism. Influence of post-modern culture on the concept of Restoration

In this article we approach the concept of authenticity and its influence on the Restoration of historical-artistic objects, since the development of postmodern culture favours inadequate interventions, far from the criteria accepted by the international community.
We analyze the different factors involved in the formation of the idea of authenticity and a paradigmatic case of unofficial restoration. In this way, the keys to historical and aesthetic transformation are presented and awareness is raised of the importance of protecting cultural heritage. It also evaluates the impact of cultural tourism on the authenticity of architectural monuments and historic cities, and the importance of the study of heritage values as a working methodology.
