La importancia del turismo sostenible para invertir la tendencia de la desaceleración económica y la disminución de la población de las comunidades rurales

Resumen

En todo el mundo hay una tendencia cada vez mayor de migración humana de las zonas rurales y, en particular, de los asentamientos pequeños a los centros urbanos. La migración a los centros urbanos es más frecuente en los grupos de jóvenes adultos, lo que afecta a las industrias tradicionales, como la agricultura y los servicios conexos, y pone en peligro la sostenibilidad de los asentamientos rurales. En algunas ciudades rurales, la disminución de la población y la agricultura ha dado lugar a su deterioro social y económico. Este artículo presenta pequeños asentamientos, dos en Italia y dos en Australia, que han aprovechado muy eficazmente la localidad para desarrollar una próspera industria turística. El estudio proporciona una comparación y una evaluación de los datos sobre el número de visitantes y el gasto turístico en estas regiones que demuestran las tendencias de éxito y crecimiento. Se muestra cómo diversas industrias distintas del turismo a menudo en conjunción con características únicas o activos de una zona crear una tarjeta de sorteo importante para los turistas. De este modo, estas zonas obtienen importantes beneficios económicos, sociales y ambientales.
