Resumen

El artículo presenta una mirada mutua del turismo para conocer no sólo al turista como protag-onista de las experiencias turísticas sino también conocer la experiencia del “otro” como columna medular del mismo fenómeno. A partir de una revisión de la literatura, se analizan los roles de turistas y locales, el artículo intenta explicar a la experiencia turística, entendida como el proceso de encuentro sociocultural en¬tre turistas y locales, desde un enfoque antropológico del turismo, pues la diversidad de las manifestaciones socioculturales contribuye a enriquecer la experiencia del viaje. Aproximación que en una visión holística permita conocer las construcciones culturales generadas entre los agentes sociales vinculados al turismo y de qué manera son determinantes para la cultura y el desarrollo turístico de la localidad receptora, incluso comprender la complejidad del turismo, a través de una mirada mutua entre turistas y locales, quienes se afectan y se alimentan entre sí por el encuentro que producen.
