The tourist destination created around Pompeii and Herculaneum is based mainly on the visit to its archaeological resources and has become an archaeological destination of reference worldwide. Two basic levels of management are presented around this destination: the one related to the destination and the one related to the archaeological tourist resources themselves. This article delves into the analysis of the management model, the value and development of the destination and its archaeological resources as well as the formal coordination procedures between those responsible for the management of both.Downloads
