In this text, I present a critical review of the book written by journalist and anthropologist Anna Pacheco entitled "I Was Here and I Remembered Us." Published in 2024 in Spanish and in 2025 in Portuguese, my critique is based on the original Spanish version. Her work, based on a master's thesis supervised by anthropology professor Susana Narotzky, deals with labour relations in hotels in the city of Barcelona. This small book is written in a self-reflective style, sometimes essayistic, sometimes ethnographic, and its contribution to the knowledge of tourism is important for documenting the less visible aspects of the complex tourist industry.
